WITH its delightful little cottages and narrow streets, the best way to see Findhorn is on foot – so park the car and take your time to explore. There are miles of beach and sand dunes and the area is popular with watersports enthusiasts.
Just outside the village is the Findhorn Foundation, an eco-community which seeks new ways of living that promote sustainable practices, peaceful relationships, co-operation with nature and a deep sense of inner wellbeing. It has homes built from straw bales and other recycled items, and the community also generates its own electricity.
Visitors are welcome to just look around, check out the shop and café or attend one of the various workshops.
Also within the community is the Universal Hall, a venue for the National Theatre of Scotland. Concerts of all kinds are held at the hall, from contemporary music and jazz to comedy, dance and children’s entertainment.
